Rev. Rebecca Trovalli is a Licensed Local pastor, having completed the Virginia Conference licensing school in 2014. She hopes to pursue her M.Div and ordination during her time at Salem.
Rebecca served the Buckingham charge, consisting of Hanes Chapel, Browns Chapel, and Rocky Mount UMCs from 2014-2019. Before that she served as a lay supply pastor for two years in Cumberland at Antioch UMC as she completed the requirements for candidacy and licensing.
Rebecca served the church prior to pastoral ministry as the coordinator of young adult ministries in Roanoke through Windsor Hills UMC, as a conference youth intern, and as a Calling21 intern, and as a lay speaker. She grew up participating beyond her local church in the Farmville district youth ministries where she crafted her first sermons.
Rebecca grew up in Nottoway Va on the Nottoway-Lunenburg charge. She was brought to faith by the incredible people of St Mark’s UMC. In 2014 she married, Clayton Cook of Prince Edward Va. Together they have a 3 year old daughter Anastasia and a two year old Australian Shepherd, Hank.
Rebecca’s passion in ministry includes a focus on cultural shifts, mutual mentoring across generational lines, helping others wrestle with their faith, and exploring the WHY of our faith traditions as Methodists and as Christians.
Her favorite Bible verses include Isaiah 43 and Ecclesiastes 3:11. She’s a huge fan of Wesley Bros, a comic series created by another Farmville district native. Her favorite TV show is Greys Anatomy and anything Shonda Rhimes does. Favorite bands: Jars of Clay, U2, and Grateful Dead.
She is so excited to be settling in at Salem and looks forward to building relationship here as we explore how God has called us to transformational kingdom life in our community.
