Rev. Rebecca Trovalli is a Licensed Local pastor, in the Virginia Annual Conference of the UMC. July of 2024 will mark 10 years of licensed ministry. She will complete Course of Study, our educational program for local pastors, through Duke this year. She is grateful for the support Salem has offered as she undertook this 5 year process. She asks for your prayers as she discerns her next steps for further education.Rebecca served the church prior to pastoral ministry as the coordinator of young adult ministries in Roanoke through Windsor Hills UMC, as a conference youth intern, as a Calling21 intern, and as a lay speaker. She grew up participating beyond her local church in the Farmville district youth ministries where she crafted her first sermons.Rebecca grew up in Nottoway Va on the Nottoway-Lunenburg charge. She was brought to faith by the incredible people of St Mark’s UMC. In 2014 she married, Clayton Cook of Prince Edward Va. Together they have a 3 children; Ana, Finn, and Sully.Rebecca’s passion in ministry includes a focus on cultural shifts, mutual mentoring across generational lines, helping others wrestle with their faith, and exploring the WHY of our faith traditions as Methodists and as Christians.Her favorite Bible verses include Isaiah 43 and Ecclesiastes 3:11. She’s a huge fan of Wesley Bros, a comic series created by another Farmville district native. Her favorite TV show is Greys Anatomy and anything Shonda Rhimes does. Favorite bands: Jars of Clay, U2, and Grateful Dead. Music is the place where she meets God most often. She is so excited to finish up year 4 at Salem and begin year 5. She looks forward to continuing to build relationship here as we explore how God has called us to transformational kingdom life in our community.
